We plan on building a passive house on our Tennessee property. It will be off-grid and net zero. A passive house has very thick walls due to being super insulated. Follow along as we design and build our home.
July 2022: Purchased property after a whirlwind trip to Tennessee.

January 2024: Excavation started on our property!

March 2024: The view is starting to show.

June 2024: More work was done on excavating the pad for our house.

October 2025: Septic system was put in. Dan Funk, our awesome excavator, said it was very challenging to get our gravity fed system in amongst the boulders on the side of a steep hill.

November 2025: We were lucky to find Justin and Tia at 4 Seasons Contracting to fix our road. We spent a lot of time with these two and besides being awesome people, we’re confident they know how to fix our road. They also have exemplary references.

January 2026: The road and our driveway are finished. The pad for our house was leveled and widened. We are so thankful for the work Justin and Tia of 4 Seasons Contracting did for us. Justin communicated with us at least once a week giving us updates, pictures, and recommendations.
