Dry Camping, FireKeepers Casino Hotel, Battle Creek, Michigan

We said goodbye to Larry after another wonderful conversation over breakfast. We drove east into Michigan. Gosh, I have missed Michigan trees! Other parts of the country are pretty but the way trees flourish in Michigan just can’t be beat.

We are dry camping at a casino that’s not too far from our old home in Jackson, MI. It’s been almost two years since the last time we were in Michigan.

We arrived at Kristin’s parent’s house and got set up. We were all so excited especially the boys. They love grandma and grandpa and made themselves right at home in their house.

We took a day to relax. We were all awakened early by an Amazon delivery at 4:30am. The boys need their treats!

After dinner, we hung out with my parents. They watch TV in the evenings. Daniel and I don’t have a TV. We watch Netflix on our phones or, if we have a good cell signal for hotspot, we watch on our laptops. Daniel jokes that our phones are plenty big if you hold them close enough. So it was nice watching TV with my parents on their big TV and discussing which homes recent lotto winners should buy on a HGTV show.

Went for a walk down to the lake. Daniel and I love doing everything together. We met on veggiedate.com and knew very early on that our search had finally ended. Daniel took one look at my profile, what I wrote, and my sassy pictures and knew he wanted to know more. He immediately sent an email which started us on our life journey. We have an age-gap of 14 years and we love it! Most of the time we don’t even notice the age-gap but sometimes we like to have fun with it.

I worked on the financial section of our blog and Daniel worked on our house plans. We are both really looking forward to checking a lot of things off our to-do lists.

Peter had an accident yesterday and now he’s limping. He was so excited to go into the house to see grandma and grandpa that he tripped and fell on the stairs and hurt his shoulder. Poor guy! He’s getting tons of TLC from everyone.

Our goal while being at my parent’s house, besides visiting them of course, is to organize the camper and put some of our stuff in storage. We worked really hard today towards that end. I went through my clothes (I can’t believe how much clothing I’ve accumulated) and Daniel worked on our “garage” area where he keeps his tools.

Pile of clothes in tent waiting to be put in storage.

Two vegans and two vegan dogs traveling the country in a camper pulled by a Tesla. We love being frugal, cooking from scratch, exploring, hiking, and meeting fellow vegans.
